Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this policy Delphi study was to identify, prioritize, and build expert consensus on the organizational characteristics, conditions, and infrastructures that support employee access to professional development (PD) opportunities embedded within a career advancement (CAd) framework. Specifically, this study aimed to: (a) identify key organizational components necessary to support professional development within a career lattice structure, (b) determine the relative importance of these components as rated by experts, and (c) establish expert-recommended strategies for implementation.
Methodology: This study used a Delphi method, consisting of three rounds, to collect data from experts with the titles of manager, directors, or vice presidents in human resources, talent development, or learning and development. In Round 1, the expert panel was asked to identify organizational components necessary to establish and integrate PD and career lattices framework. In Round 2, the identified themes were placed in a Likert scale-style survey and rated. In Round 3, expert panel members identified strategies for implantation to integrate PD with career lattices.
Findings: The analysis of data identified 10 essential components to enable the successful implementation of the integration of PD and career lattices:1. Strategic Career Path Architectures
